Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking an Assistant Landscape Officer in Stevenage with hybrid working and a permanent contract. You will support the Landscape Team by providing high‑quality information on Landscape Design and Visual Impact for planning applications, ensuring compliant design, protection and mitigation as part of the planning process.

The role requires a landscape‑related degree and a solid grasp of planning systems, with a full UK driving licence required for site visits.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate and/or master’s degree in Landscape, architecture or urban design related disciplines.
• Basic understanding of Landscape Design, LVIA, Green/Blue Infrastructure and construction design.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality information and advice on Landscape Design and Visual Impact for planning applications.
• Assist in ensuring landscape protection, enhancement and mitigation during planning, master planning and construction phases.
• Work with multiple planning authorities and the LEADS team to address climate change, placemaking and sustainability goals.
