Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a Land Surveyor for an established Civil Engineering contractor, supporting projects across Bristol and Gloucestershire from tender through completion. The role supports a new Earthworks division within a growing business.

The position is hybrid, requiring both office and site work with travel across Gloucestershire and Bristol. Salary up to £70,000 per annum, plus benefits including a company vehicle or car allowance, pension, life assurance and gym discount.

Qualifications

• Experience in bulk earthworks.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Centre.
• HND/HNC or degree in Civil Engineering.
• Strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Site control & modelling: load data and create pre-construction and operational models.
• Surveying & measurement: perform topographical and measured surveys, drone/ground surveys, track volume calculations.
• Documentation: maintain precise project records and final as-builts.

Job description

An established £80m Civil Engineering contractor is launching a new Earthworks division and seeking a Land Surveyor to support projects across Bristol and Gloucestershire from tender through completion.

Core Responsibilities:

• Site Control & Modelling: Create pre-construction and operational models; load data into Trimble machine control plant systems.
• Surveying & Measurement: Perform topographical and measured surveys, conduct drone/ground-level surveys (training provided), and track volume calculations for stockpiles and land development.
• Documentation: Maintain precise project records and final as-builts.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience: Proven background in bulk earthworks.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre, or equivalent software.
• Qualifications: HND, HNC, or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication abilities.

Location:

This role will be partly office and site based, so flexibility to travel around Gloucestershire and Bristol will be necessary.

Salary:

Up to £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
