Delivering safe, reliable electricity is at the heart of what we do and we're proud to play an essential role in powering everyday life for the customers, homes, businesses, and economies we serve.

In an evolving energy industry, we have a key role in creating and managing future energy systems that increasingly interact with our customers and smart & low carbon technologies, this is why we're innovating and investing today so we're ready for the demands of tomorrow.

We have a number of opportunities for enthusiastic people who wish to develop a career in rural and urban land surveying and want to join our Programme Delivery Land Rights Team, working primarily in our Yorkshire area.

Working as part of a large team, you’ll be responsible for arranging access onto farmland and other properties for maintenance and construction works to replace poles and overhead lines, as well as progressing basic land damage claims after the works have completed. You’ll work closely with construction teams, landowners, Agents and environmental representatives and be their single point of contact. In addition to this, you will also establish access rights for our substation maintenance works, resolve any land ownership or boundary issues and provide advice and information to our contractors regarding our property rights.

You’ll be expected to meet and communicate with our grantors, customers, local authorities and statutory bodies, attend site meetings and share advice and technical knowledge with our colleagues and contractors.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be relatively confident and outgoing and be able to adapt to various situations. An ability to build working relationships and to collaborate effectively with our stakeholders is important. Being able to make sound decisions and maintain standards is essential. We’d like you to have an appreciation or experience of one of the following areas; Customer Service, Farming/Environment, Land/Property use, Law, but we will provide a two year training and development programme, with a pathway to future opportunities in the Land Rights Team.

The role requires an individual who wants to develop into a qualified surveyor and is customer focused, highly motivated, very organised and IT literate. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with our Stakeholders, Engineers and Contractors and work well under pressure and have an ability to manage multiple jobs whilst maintaining an attention to detail.

A full training programme and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidate who should be prepared to undertake further study to achieve membership of RICS (inc. AssocRICS) or CAAV.
