Land Development Liaison Support Officer

Location: Home Based, National (with office hubs in Leeds, Warwick and The Strand, London)

To work alongside and provide support to the Land Development Liaison Officer engaging with promoters of third party statutory consultations and developers of Town and Country Planning applications and other stakeholders to protect the integrity of NGET assets, land and other interests from development.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to offices and project sites as required.

Key accountabilities

  • Review the impact of third party proposals on NGETs existing assets, land and other interests.
  • Draft responses to consultations, primarily consisting of Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) and Transport and Work Act Orders (TWAOs).
  • Work with solicitors to complete legal agreements e.g. Asset Protection and Protective Provisions that protect against any eventuality unduly caused by third party developers.
  • Work alongside Asset Protection to respond to consultations (Town and Country Planning applications) which have the potential to impact NGETs assets and interests.
  • Respond to Land Information Questionnaires from third party developers.
  • Support the Development Plan Consultations workstream by responding to consultations and working with suppliers to meet with local authorities to raise awareness of NGET asset protection matters.
  • Review implementation of protective provisions by developers post DCO consent to ensure developers abide by NGET requirements.

About you

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to ensure effective engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
  • The ability to negotiate with a wide range of external stakeholders from individual members of the public, landowners, commercial establishments, contractors, developers. Managing often conflicting objectives.
  • Some experience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (engineering, legal, consenting) to support delivery.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the consenting regimes and processes such as the Planning Act (2008), including Development Consent Order, Compulsory Purchase Order and Town and Country Planning.
  • Some experience of providing project and contract management services as part of delivering land rights projects.
  • Experience in land discussions with third party developers.
  • The ability to identify risks and communicate complex matters.
  • Degree level qualification in an appropriate discipline and Town Planning (RTPI) is desirable.
