Job summary

Ladybridge Primary School in Cheadle is seeking a part-time Caretaker on a permanent basis. The role covers security, safety checks, and general site maintenance from 7:00 to 9:30 and 14:30 to 18:00 on weekdays, with additional Friday hours. Start date ASAP with a supportive school community.

Responsibilities

  • Security & Safety: act as main key-holder, manage site access and alarm systems.
  • Compliance & Health & Safety: ensure compliance checks are up-to-date and recorded.
  • Maintenance & DIY: plan and carry out maintenance, minor repairs, painting and shelving.
  • Cleaning: perform daily cleaning, graffiti removal, litter picking and seasonal site care.

(including Monday site inspection and Mon Fri lock up)Term time: Monday 7-9.30am and 2.30-6pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 2.30-6pm and Friday 2.30-5.30pm.
Non term: hours can be agreed with Headteacher

The Headteacher, Governors and children of our vibrant and inclusive school would like to appoint a friendly and self-motivated Caretaker to start as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security & Safety: Act as the main key-holder. Oversee site security (locking/unlocking), operate alarm systems, conduct regular safety audits, and provide emergency site access when required.
  • Compliance & Health & Safety: Take a proactive approach to mitigating hazards. Ensure all compliance checks (including fire alarms, water sprinklers, and Legionella testing) are up-to-date and meticulously recorded.
  • Maintenance & DIY: Organise and carry out a planned maintenance programme, handling minor repairs, improvements, and decoration work (e.g. painting, erecting shelves etc.).
  • Cleaning: Undertake day-to-day cleaning duties, as well as graffiti removal and litter picking, emergency spillages, and seasonal site care (such as gritting and clearing snow/leaves).
