Job summary

Leadgate Primary School is seeking a hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team on a permanent part-time basis (32 hours per week). The post involves early morning and late afternoon shifts (6.00am–9.15am; 3.00pm–5.45pm) with an additional 2 hours weekly for site maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of practical skills for maintaining a school environment.

The Governors of Leadgate Primary School are seeking to appoint a hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team. This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of our highly valued and respected caretaker.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a welcoming and inclusive school community. We are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and who will ensure that our school remains a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the school premises and grounds, including security, health and safety, routine maintenance, cleaning supervision and contractor liaison. They will work closely with school leaders and staff to ensure that the school environment supports the best possible outcomes for our children.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Takes pride in their work and has excellent attention to detail.
  • Is practical, organised and able to work independently.
  • Has good maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys being part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
The current working pattern is:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 6.00am – 9.15am
  • 3.00pm – 5.45pm
  • Plus an additional 2 hours across the week to support site maintenance tasks.

Annual leave to be taken in school closure periods.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
