Job summary

Meridian Business Support is seeking a General Labourer on an Engineering Trainee Pathway to support our engineering and production teams. This hands-on role focuses on learning practical skills, helping with labouring, assembly and workshop tasks, and developing knowledge of mechanical operations.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Thursday 07:00-16:00 and Friday 07:00-12:00, with a pay rate of £13.00 per hour.

  • Help with equipment inspections and basic maintenance activities.
  • Follow engineering drawings, instructions, and technical guidance under supervision.
  • Adhere to health, safety and quality procedures.
  • Participate in training opportunities to develop engineering skills and knowledge.
  • Complete other duties to support engineering and operations.

General Labourer (Engineering Trainee Pathway)

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable General Labourer to support our engineering and production teams. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop practical engineering knowledge and hands‑on technical skills while gaining valuable workplace experience. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of labouring, assembly, maintenance, and workshop tasks while learning different aspects of mechanical and engineering operations.

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 07:00-16:00/ Fri 07:00-12:00 noon

Pay rate: £13.00 per hour

Contract: Temp to perm

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist engineers, technicians, and skilled tradespeople with daily tasks.
  • Carry out general labouring duties including lifting, moving, and preparing materials, working on rebuilding the workshop.
  • Support workshop operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
  • Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Help with equipment inspections and basic maintenance activities.
  • Learn to follow engineering drawings, instructions, and technical guidance under supervision.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Participate in training opportunities to develop engineering skills and knowledge.
  • Complete other duties as required to support engineering and operational teams.
