Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a reliable Labourer to join the Defence & Government Services team at Worthy Down Barracks, near Winchester. You will perform general labouring, light maintenance, and support tasks, contributing to safe, high-quality site services and teamwork-based delivery.

The role emphasizes practical work, adherence to health and safety, and the ability to work both independently and with colleagues. Training, equipment, and a supportive environment are provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general labouring and semi-skilled tasks as directed.
• Assist with minor maintenance and accommodation repairs using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Support movement, assembly and relocation of furniture and equipment.
• Clean external areas including gutters, waste bins and areas around buildings.
• Assist with stores operations, including receiving, dispatching and moving materials.
• Support recycling and waste management activities to promote environmental practices.
• Help with seasonal duties such as snow clearance and gritting of footpaths.
• Undertake ground-floor window cleaning and general site housekeeping.
• Complete relevant paperwork and maintain accurate records where required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Report hazards, near misses, faulty equipment, and accidents promptly.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures, COSHH regulations and safe systems of work.
• Comply with security procedures, client requirements, and company policies.
• Attend training, team briefings, and performance reviews as required.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management.

What we are looking for:

Essential

• Previous experience in a labouring or similar service industry role.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A strong work ethic with a commitment to health, safety, and customer service.

Desirable

• CSCS Card (or equivalent).
• Forklift Truck Licence.
• Experience working within a military or defence environment.
