Job summary

The Biodiscovery Institute at University of Nottingham is seeking a laboratory support role. You will prepare and sterilise reagents, wash glassware and manage waste with autoclave procedures, while ensuring stock control and deliveries are recorded accurately.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week, on a fixed term until 31/07/2027. GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent are required, with training provided. Informal enquiries to Carole White at [e-mail].

Qualifications

• GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent, or considerable work experience in a relevant role.
• Experience in a lab setting is desirable but full training will be given.
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational, written and verbal communication skills, and good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and sterilising laboratory reagents and media.
• Washing and sterilising glassware.
• Collection and disposal of biological waste using an autoclave.
• Safety checks on equipment, collection and delivery of chemicals and waste, dealing with deliveries of consumables.
• Stock checking and restocking consumables; role may include working in goods in and recording deliveries.
