Job summary

Mitie is seeking a proactive Lab Support Steward to join our client site at Harmire Road, Barnard Castle. You will support a structured laboratory environment with a focus on accuracy, safety, and compliance.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and strong communication to collaborate with clients and colleagues. The position is full-time and physically active with manual handling requirements.

Qualifications

• GCSE/NAT English, Maths, and Science (preferably Biology).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures consistently.
• A methodical and organised approach to work.
• Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Washing, managing, and restocking laboratory glassware.
• Performing laboratory fume cupboard checks to ensure airflow compliance with procedures.
• Safe handling and removal of contaminated and hazardous waste.
• Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory areas using rotating disinfectants in line with procedures.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and GMP compliance across laboratory areas.
• Following documented procedures and ensuring accurate record keeping in line with ALCOA principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate).

Key Responsibilities
