OraSure Technologies Inc. (OTI) and Sherlock Biosciences in Cambridge, UK, are seeking a Laboratory Technician I to assist with laboratory tests, sample analysis and equipment maintenance, following SOPs for both R&D and production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences; 0–1 year experience; preferred 1–2 years in life sciences manufacturing.
• Familiarity with GLP, ISO13485 and GMP quality standards.
• Experience following SOPs and work instructions.
• Experience with lab equipment (pipettes, centrifuges, laminar flow hoods).
• Experience with lateral flow strip manufacturing equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate lateral flow strips per established procedures and maintain batch records.
• Prepare and qualify biochemical reagents for process development and manufacturing per SOPs.
• Assemble devices and manage device parts stock to support manufacturing.
• Assist in development, optimization and scale-up of manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and ensure efficient operations.
• Document data, analyze results and communicate findings; author protocols and test reports.

Overview

TheLaboratory Technician Iwillassistin conducting laboratory tests, analyzing samples, andmaintaininglaboratory equipment and records. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) in fabricating materials for both R&D and production.

• Fabrication of lateral flow strips per established procedures for use in devices and bench work forvarious studies. Maintain proper batch records and associated records asrequired.
• Routine preparation and qualification of biochemical reagents for process development and manufacturing, adhering to required work instructions and SOPs
• Assembly ofdevicesas per work instructionstoassistcontinual improvement ofthedevice and the development of future technologies.Will include management of deviceparts stock.
• Assistin the development,optimizationand scaleup ofmanufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements, ensuring optimized and efficient manufacturing operations.
• Conduct cross-functional process investigations and root cause analyses toidentifyand address deviations, non-conformances, and other process-related issues. implementing corrective and preventiveactionsas necessary.
• Documentation and Communication: Organize data, analyze results, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams. Author technical documents such as protocols and test reports.
• Development of work instructions and standard operating procedures in partnership with members of the R&D team and broader Operations organization.
• Physical demands require ability to lift 15kg
• Physical demandsrequiredmay require standing on your feet for extended periods of time, although much of the lab work can be executed while sitting
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences with 0-1 years of experience. Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant work experience in life sciences manufacturing role.
• Awareness of GLP, ISO13485, and GMP quality standards.
• Experience following work instructions or SOPs.
• Previousexperience of using a variety of laboratory equipment including pipettes, centrifuges, laminarflowhoods, etc.
• Experience with lateral flow strip manufacturing equipment (e.g.Biodotor similar equipment) preferred.
• Strong communicationand collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Detail-oriented, with a commitment to ensuring compliance and delivering high-quality results.
• Strong interpersonal skills will aid effective communication and teamwork within the manufacturing team.
• More broadly, we are looking for a proactive team player with the initiative, flexibility,driveand enthusiasm to achieve goals and exceed expectations in a dynamic startup
• Experience working in a 6S environment preferred.
• Medical device or other regulated industry experience preferred.
• This is an onsite role.
