Responsibilities

  • Support the smooth running of laboratory operations by keeping areas clean, organised, and well‑stocked.
  • Manage laboratory materials: receiving, labelling, stock tracking, and database updates.
  • Prepare reagents and other materials required by scientific teams.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment such as pipettes and balances.
  • Complete daily monitoring activities and maintain accurate records for water systems.
  • Issue, maintain, and monitor laboratory logbooks and associated records for traceability.
  • Maintain auditable documentation in line with quality requirements and SOPs.

Job description

We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Nottingham on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations and ensuring scientists have the equipment, materials, and resources needed to deliver high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the smooth running of laboratory operations by maintaining clean, organised, and well‑stocked laboratory areas.
  • Manage laboratory materials, including receiving, labelling, tracking stock, and updating relevant databases.
  • Prepare reagents and other materials required by scientific teams.
  • Carry out routine calibration and maintenance activities on laboratory equipment such as pipettes and balances.
  • Complete daily monitoring activities, including checking laboratory water systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Issue, maintain, and monitor laboratory logbooks and associated records to ensure compliance and traceability.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and auditable documentation in line with quality requirements.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain all required training records.

  • Experience calibrating or maintaining laboratory equipment.
