Fugro is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, on-site, to join a growing team delivering geotechnical testing data for major projects. You will perform soil and rock tests, record results and support equipment calibration, working closely with engineers and quality teams.

The role requires GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, strong attention to detail, and good communication. A collaborative, safety-minded mindset will help you contribute to timely project delivery and

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance, calibration and performance checks of lab equipment and instrumentation.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Rock Testing, you’ll be part of a supportive team where learning, development and continuous improvement are encouraged every day.**Your role and responsibilities:*** Carry out a range of geotechnical laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and to agreed quality standards.* Record, analyse and process test results, maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity.* Prepare test materials, equipment and laboratory workspaces, ensuring efficient testing operations and timely project delivery.* Support the maintenance, calibration and performance checks of laboratory equipment and testing instrumentation.* Work closely with laboratory technicians, engineers and quality teams to deliver reliable data and excellent service to our clients.* Identify and raise potential quality, safety or equipment issues while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory.* Where required and desired, support offshore site investigations, contributing to the collection of geotechnical data in the field.**What you’ll need to thrive in this role:****Essential*** A good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science.* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.* Good communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the laboratory.* Strong organisational skills, reliable time management and confidence using Microsoft Excel or similar software.* A proactive mindset, willingness to learn and a commitment to working safely and delivering high-quality results.**Desirable*** Experience working in a laboratory, technical or regulated environment.* Further education in Geology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.* Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).**About Us***Who we are* Do you want to join our Geo-data revolution?
