Job summary

A leading company in the FMCG sector is seeking a Technician for their laboratory in Reading on an initial 6-month contract. What You Will Do

  • Perform a variety of routine tasks and sample preparations to support effective analyses and meet customer expectations.
  • Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Follow specified methodologies, including Standard Operating Procedures, to complete laboratory tasks efficiently.
  • Produce and record accurate data, interpreting and evaluating results under the guidance of senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to the organisation and cleanliness of the laboratory by performing admin and housekeeping duties.
  • Provide training to team members in routine activities and support different laboratories when needed.

What You Will Bring

  • A qualification to A-level or HNC in a relevant scientific discipline (this is a junior entry-level position, degrees are not required).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A meticulous attention to detail and enjoyment and ability in following written instructions precisely.
  • Proficiency in standard MS Office applications and a basic understanding of scientific lab equipment.
