Job summary

Avantor, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support our client site in Oxford.

You will help ensure environmental health and safety compliance, perform contamination testing, manage waste streams, and coordinate deliveries of lab supplies and equipment. You will also oversee dock safety, recycling, and spill response, maintain accurate inventory and lab furniture, and perform routine maintenance tasks while keeping thorough documentation.

• Experience in laboratory or cleanroom environment is preferred.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and with others in a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to EH&S procedures and approved SOPs.
• Perform contamination testing and autoclave operations; manage waste streams.
• Coordinate deliveries for lab supplies and equipment; maintain dock safety and cleanliness.
• Coordinate trash, recycling, and hazardous spill response in loading areas.
• Maintain inventory and equipment; coordinate maintenance, repair, and installation with vendors.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, generators) and manage lab documentation.

Job description

1. Safety ComplianceAdhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) procedures in line with approved SOPs.

2. Waste Management & DecontaminationPerform contamination testing (including mycoplasma). Operate autoclave systems and manage waste streams. Coordinate steri-cycle runs and BSC decontamination schedules. Oversee monthly lab cleanings and change sticky mats as required.

3. Delivery CoordinationSchedule and manage deliveries for lab supplies and equipment. Oversee truck staging at loading docks. Receive and reconcile shipments; maintain cleanliness and safety of dock and common areas.

4. Waste & Recycling ManagementCoordinate trash/recycling pickup and hazardous spill response in loading areas.

5. Inventory & Equipment ManagementMaintain accurate inventory and monitor lab supplies. Manage autoclave maintenance, and assemble/disassemble equipment and lab furniture. Coordinate with vendors on repair, installation, and maintenance services.

6. General Maintenance TasksPerform routine inspections (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, generators). Address daily facility requests and safely change gas/nitrogen cylinders. Refill ethanol/water bottles and manage lab coat cleaning program. Maintain operational documentation as required.
