Avantor’s Hichrom ACE Analytical Chromatography in the UK is seeking a maintenance engineer to deliver routine and reactive maintenance on laboratory instrumentation, with a strong emphasis on HPLC and UHPLC systems, across Manufacturing and R&D labs. The manufacturing and R&D sites operate laboratories specialising in the development, manufacture and supply of high-quality chromatography products, servicing global markets in the Life Sciences and other market segments. Responsible for delivering routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, with a strong emphasis on HPLC and UHPLC systems, ensuring equipment is fit for purpose across both Manufacturing and R&D laboratories. Maintenance activities are performed on a planned schedule to minimise downtime and maximise instrument availability. The role also requires prompt response to reactive maintenance requests for general laboratory equipment and instruments, providing timely and effective repair solutions to reduce operational disruption. All maintenance, repair, and asset records are managed within asset management systems to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 requirements. Adherence to all site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards is mandatory.
Strong fault-finding ability and inquisitive mindset
This role is a hybrid of laboratory and workshop based; suitable PPE equipment and training will be provided for Laboratory presence. Some physical effort is required through walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that can weigh 20kg. Some degree of lifting and heavy work is likely with the daily movement of equipment, machinery, and supplies. The duties of the job will require you to work on instruments within the manufacturing facility and R&D buildings and include transiting between the two sites as and when required.
