Avantor is seeking a Lab and Logistics Operative to join our on-site team at Bath Road, Slough. This role focuses on day-to-day lab operations, inventory control, PPE management, and safety compliance to minimise interruptions in a pharmaceutical client’s workflow.
You will assist with chemical storage, media and reagent prep, and routine equipment upkeep in a fast-paced environment while coordinating with external service providers and internal stakeholders. Monday to Friday, 8:00am–16:30pm.
Executes day-to-day lab operations & support objectives at customer facilities, following a defined standard output or set of procedures, focused on minimizing laboratory workflow interruptions. Problems and issues faced are generally recurring and solutions are typically known and/or prescribed. More complex problems are solved by applying methods learned through experience and/or using available support. Activities may include PPE and/or safety station checks and maintenance, reviewing defibrillators, extinguishers and dispensing areas to confirm working order, storage, tracking and distribution of chemicals/materials ensuring accurate inventory control, and hazardous waste collection and recycling. Collects, documents, and organizes data and observations. Communicates activity records, service level metrics and other information requiring some explanation or interpretation to team members, supervisors or customers.

Working hours: Monday to Friday. Typically 8:00am – 16:30 pm
Laboratory waste management, including collection and disposal of clinical waste, Winchester bottles and tip boxes.
Experience in laboratory support, laboratory operations, facilities management or scientific services environments. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping capabilities. Customer service focused approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a wider laboratory services team. Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and laboratory management systems.
