Job summary

Yourgene Genomic Services, Novacyt Group in Manchester is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support day-to-day laboratory operations, sample logistics and quality compliance in a regulated environment.

You will assist with sample processing, stock control, waste management, and administration, contributing to high-quality genomic research and clinical services at a science park at the forefront of genomics.

Qualifications

• Degree in a science-related discipline or GCSE/A-Level in science with relevant administrative experience.
• Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment is a plus.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sample logistics and book deliveries onto the LIMS.
• Manage stock transfers and dispatch samples to clients.
• Communicate with clients regarding sample receipt and shipments.
• Index, file and archive client reports, and support equipment management.
• Maintain minimum stock levels of reagents and consumables with traceability.

Education

What you’ll be doing

You’ll support the day‑to‑day operations of the laboratory across five key areas:

Sample Logistics

• Receive reagent and sample deliveries and book them onto the LIMS
• Manage stock transfers and dispatch samples to clients

Administration

• Communicate with clients regarding sample receipt and shipments
• Index, file and archive client reports, and support equipment management

Stock Control

• Maintain minimum stock levels of reagents and consumables in line with forecasts
• Ensure stock rotation and traceability, and support purchasing and central logistics

Quality

• Carry out all activities in line with relevant quality standards and SOPs
• Report non‑conformances and comply with all health and safety and COSHH requirements

Sample Processing & Laboratory Support

• Perform basic laboratory activities and QC procedures as directed
• Coordinate hazardous and cardboard waste removal
• Autoclave reagents, glassware and plasticware; clean and maintain washroom equipment
• Support manufacturing and other reasonable laboratory duties
