Job summary

CVS Vets are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Immunology team at Axiom Veterinary Laboratory, Newton Abbot. This permanent role involves working in a high-throughput diagnostic environment with responsibilities spanning sample processing, equipment maintenance, and precise record-keeping.

You will join a supportive, collaborative team and receive full training. Prior lab experience is beneficial though not mandatory; strong communication and organisational skills are essential for

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience is advantageous but not required.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work in a high-volume diagnostic lab.
• Organised, methodical, and accurate in record-keeping.
• Team-oriented with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Sample processing of veterinary specimens and running tests (manual & automated).

Permanent

Hours and Shift Pattern:

Alternate Mondays 09:00 – 15:30, Tuesday – Friday 07:30-16:00, Saturdays 07:00-13:00.

About the Role:

As a Laboratory Technician in our Biohaem department, you will be part of a dynamic, high-throughput diagnostic team.

Your primaryresponsibilities will include:

• Sample Processing: Preparing veterinary samples and running both manual and automated tests
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to standards
• Record Keeping: Maintaining clear and accurate records to support the timely reporting of results
• Communication: Acting as a key liaison to ensure smooth information flow between colleagues, managers, and other departments

About You:

Whilst previous laboratory experience is advantageous, it is not required for this role.
