Responsibilities

• Develop a working knowledge of laboratory equipment, procedures and SOPs and apply these effectively in day-to-day duties.
• Prepare culture media for microbiological testing.
• Prepare sterile laboratory glassware
• Assist with general laboratory tasks, including capping tubes, refilling pipette tip boxes and labelling Petri dishes.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and tidiness throughout the laboratory.
• Follow laboratory procedures and quality requirements accurately and consistently.
• Support colleagues with other laboratory duties as required.
• As we are a dynamic laboratory undertaking a wide variety of testing, other duties may be assigned to the role when necessary.

Job description

Full-time Laboratory Technician required to work in the culture media department in a busy ISO 17025 accredited food, cosmetics, water, and environmental microbiology laboratory based in Bournemouth (Wallisdown area).
