The role

The Laboratory Technician is a vital component in the formulation team. The role is to develop formulations and produce consistent scientific data in support of technical rationale. They will be learning & developing as well as supporting the formulation team. The tasks will include physically preparing batches of product, sending samples for micro challenge testing, working on a global system, organizing and co-ordinating the lab, liaising with colleagues across the globe.

What you will do

• Preparing paperwork, raw materials and working with the PALM system to generate data to release formulae.
• Manufacturing and development of gels and lotions; these will be main part of the technician's deliverables.
• The formulation work will help support pilot plant batches as well as the engineering team.
• The person will be and become proficient in using a variety of lab equipment.
• Stability Testing: Run stability programs with diligence and attention to detail, generating accurate stability data crucial for the team.
• Sample Management: Fill, pack, and label samples for shipping, including training in packing and transporting hazardous materials.
• R&D Innovation: Contribute ideas for R&D innovation days, develop and formulate unique products.
• Make and formulate samples for the marketing calendar, at times lead the delivery programs, which can be very demanding.

What you’ll need

• Science A-level is preferable.
• Some experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing plant and familiar with good manufacturing and hygiene practices.
• Knowledge of consumer products (preferably cosmetics industry or food).
• Be a practical / hands-on team player.
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel.
• Keen eye for detail; being essential.
• Proven ability of providing detailed and accurate work.
• Strong organisational & inter-personal skills.
