Job summary

South East Water is looking for a Laboratory Services Analyst to support the core Water Quality team. You will process samples, log data in the LIMS, and handle customer bottle requests as the front-of-house contact for commercial customers.

The role requires an A-level or equivalent, a scientific background, and experience in a laboratory or admin setting. Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, plus excellent communication and time management, will help you succeed.

Responsibilities

• Processing all samples and deliveries arriving at the laboratory on time.
• Ensuring data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System.
• Completing customer bottle requests and maintaining reusable items.
• Communicating quality/technical issues with senior staff and Water Quality/Commercial teams.
• Maintaining front-of-house contact with commercial customers and SEW employees.
• Suggesting method/process improvements to boost efficiency, flexibility and quality.
• Upholding good laboratory practice and housekeeping.

In this fast-paced, high-impact role, you will be the engine driving our daily laboratory operations. You will ensure every sample and delivery is received and processed with precision, seamlessly managing data input within our Laboratory Information Management System. Beyond technical handling, you will serve as the premier front-of-house contact for our commercial customers-managing bottle requests, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining seamless communication across departments. We are looking for an ambitious candidate educated to A-level standard (or equivalent, with a relevant undergraduate degree being a strong bonus) who ideally brings a solid scientific background and prior experience in a laboratory or administrative setting. You will stand out if you possess sharp numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, paired with top-tier time management, excellent communicator and dynamic interpersonal skills. Experience in a water testing laboratory will give you an extra edge!

Main responsibilities

• Processing all samples and deliveries that arrive at the laboratory on time.
• Ensuring data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System.
• Completing customer bottle requests and ensure reusable items are properly maintained and available when needed.
• Communicating with senior members of staff on any quality/technical issue as well as with other members of the Water Quality Department and Commercial Customers.
• Maintaining day to day contact with commercial customers and other South East water Employees as front of house contact for commercial customers.
• Offering suggestions for improvements to methods and processes that will improve efficiency, flexibility & quality while developing analytical knowledge and other Laboratory & Water Quality skills.
• Always maintaining good laboratory practice and housekeeping.

You’ll need

• Educated to A-level or equivalent standard. An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject is desirable.
• Good numeracy, literacy and computer skills.
• A scientific background.
• Previous laboratory or administrative experience.
• Good time management, communication and customer service skills.

It will be a bonus if you have
