The Opportunity

Avantor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Service Lead to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this full-time, permanent role, based at our new facility at The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus, Cambridge, you will manage a team of Laboratory Technicians working across chemistry laboratories. Your responsibilities will include supporting operations such as waste management, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance to ensure seamless service delivery supporting scientific excellence.

The Team

You will lead and mentor a team of four Laboratory Technicians within a department supporting global pharmaceutical research and development in the Life Sciences industry.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (preferably Chemistry/Biochemistry) or equivalent laboratory experience
• Experience in people management, including recruitment and staff development
• Laboratory experience with knowledge of SHE requirements, IOSH certification preferred
• Familiarity with GLS, GxP regulations, audit processes, and CAPA
• Incident response, root cause analysis (RCA)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis/reporting
• Experience in writing Risk Assessments and COSHH

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory operations supporting a team of four Technicians
• Manage health and safety, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Prioritize and coordinate operational tasks
• Engage with customers through data presentation and KPI analysis
• Maintain documentation such as work instructions, risk assessments, and training materials
