University of Oxford is seeking a Laboratory Safety Technician to join the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG) within the Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will provide Health & Safety, Laboratory and Facilities support across a busy research environment on the Old Road Campus.

Responsibilities include assisting with SOPs, risk assessments, COSHH documents, inductions and audits, as well as waste management and equipment servicing coordination.

Competenze

• Essential GCSE level and experience in a laboratory environment.
• Highly organised and methodical; able to prioritise day-to-day work and respond to reactive workloads.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with MS Office.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team; willing to undertake appropriate training.

Mansioni

• Provide Health & Safety, Laboratory and Facilities support; respond to reactive requests from laboratory users.
• Assist with SOPs, risk assessments, COSHH documentation, inductions, audits and accident reporting.
• Maintain common user facilities and core equipment; manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
• Coordinate equipment servicing and contractor visits; liaise with Estates Services and stakeholders on building maintenance.
• Support management of cold storage areas; maintain records and asset registers.
• Participate in public engagement activities (up to two days per year).
• Undertake mandatory training; be part of the on-call rota for building facilities emergencies.
