Job summary

Sygnature Discovery is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join the Facilities team in the UK. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance and compliance for laboratory and plant equipment across sites, primarily Nottingham, with travel to Alderley Park, Tytherington and Glasgow.

You will perform routine, preventative and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, and coordinate planned maintenance while keeping SOPs and records up to date. A full driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
• Previous experience in a laboratory or scientific environment is essential
• Experience maintaining mechanical and/or electrical plant and equipment
• Experience of fault-finding and troubleshooting equipment issues, including liaison with external engineers and suppliers
• Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Good communication with scientific staff, contractors and manufacturers
• Well organised with ability to manage a varied workload and priorities
• Methodical and safety-conscious approach to work

Responsibilities

• Carry out in-house inspections, routine maintenance, and preventative and reactive maintenance of laboratory and plant equipment.
• Undertake fault-finding of equipment and building-related issues.
• Schedule and coordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks.
• Assist with compliance-related checks including Legionella flushing, emergency light testing, and fire door inspections.
• Assist with LEV checks and support the site’s LEV competent person.
• Assist with PUWER and LOLER inspections as required.
• Produce and update in-house SOPs relevant to the role.
• Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors to troubleshoot issues.
• Organise on-site engineer visits and ensure safe systems of work.
• Maintain health and safety standards and company policies.
• Peep equipment records and SOPs accuracy and currency.
