Job summary

Broughton Group is hiring a Scientific Equipment Technician to maintain and support a range of laboratory instruments across two sites in the UK. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, fault resolution, and user support, with involvement in qualification activities to ensure GMP/UKAS compliance.

The successful candidate will have a chemistry-related degree and at least two years of lab experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • At least two years of experience working within a laboratory environment supporting similar equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical maintenance, repair or technical fault-finding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of laboratory equipment.
  • Investigating faults and helping resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Acting as the first point of contact when equipment users need support.
  • Working with laboratory teams to minimise disruption and prioritise critical equipment.
  • Supporting equipment qualification activities, including IQ, OQ and PQ.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting investigations, risk assessments and root cause analysis.
  • Monitoring equipment and facilities to ensure they remain compliant and operational.
  • Managing spare parts and consumable stock levels.
  • Producing clear, accurate documentation that supports GMP and UKAS requirements.
  • Contributing ideas that improve processes, efficiency and reliability.
