Job summary

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) is a contract research organisation providing analytical services to the food, consumer goods and life science sectors. The role of Scientific Administrator I ensures laboratory operations run efficiently, enabling analysts to deliver to clients safely and on time.

You will book tests, manage project content, stock materials, and support lab administration while adhering to safety and quality standards and using LIMS and Q-Pulse.

Qualifications

• Educated to A-level / HNC level (or equivalent).
• Good understanding of basic lab equipment.
• Accountable, honest and hardworking.
• Flexible and adaptable to meet requirements.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self motivated and well organized.
• Computer literate in MS Office and standard tools.
• English fluency in written and spoken.
• Open to acquiring new skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work in a regulated lab environment with GMP/QSOP awareness.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently booked tests, created project folders, and scanned documents in the laboratory database.
• Front-end checking on projects, ensuring materials are in stock and stored correctly.
• Handle samples, reagents and standards following safety protocols and MSDSs.
• Provide high quality customer service and accurate data/results.
• Perform laboratory administration and housekeeping duties across labs.
• Support cross-training to cover responsibilities at multiple labs.
