Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the operational delivery of a Wellcome Trust–funded antifungal drug discovery programme. The role is part-time (17.5 h/w) with a pro-rata salary against the full-time range (£48,246–£58,318).

You will supervise fungal genomics work, ensure safety, compliance and budgeting, and coordinate across a multi-site consortium with Imperial, Dundee, GSK and Cultivarium. Excellent career development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Background in microbiology, chemistry, or related discipline.
• Experience in laboratory management.
• Training in health and safety for infectious diseases labs.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary consortia.
• Good working knowledge of financial systems and budgeting.
• Experience supervising and training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations, safety, and containment of fungal and CRISPR work.
• Maintain risk assessments and genetic modification compliance.
• Oversee budgets, procurement and stock management of reagents, consumables and equipment.
• Coordinate logistics across Imperial, Dundee, GSK, Cultivarium.
• Maintain strain repositories, databases and SOPs for reproducibility.
• Liaise with safety teams to maintain containment compliance.
• Support organisation of project meetings and Joint Steering Committee logistics.
