Job summary

Continental Industry in Grimsby seeks an experienced Lab/Test Operations Manager to lead the lab testing activities and supervise local testing projects. You will organize testing operations, assign benches and personnel, and ensure sufficient staff capacity for all lab tasks.

You will drive strategic planning for investments in equipment, oversee budgets and forecasts, and report KPIs while coordinating with international teams to uphold quality across rubber and plastics production processes.

Qualifications

• University degree required in production/engineering management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience with testing rubber products.
• Experience in rubber and plastics production processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate testing activities in the lab and supervise local tests.

• Keep test equipment up to date and compliant with guidelines.
• Support development of measurement and test methods and devices.
• Coordinate testing activities with international teams, including in Wigan.

• Ensure availability of adequate personnel capacities for all lab tasks
• Contribute to strategic and operative planning with respect to investments, capacity, technical equipment
• Continuous optimization of operational activities (quality, costs, utilization, availability)
• Initiate and implement continuous improvement activities
• Prepare, review and manage the budget and forecast of the lab
• Ensure that the financial goals are met
• Tracking and reporting of defined KPIs
• Initiate and control cost reduction projects
• Keep test equipment on the current state of the art
• Support development of measurement and test methods
• Steer and support implementation of new measurement and test devices
• Implement all necessary measures for compliance with the applicable occupational Safety & Health guidelines.
• Support risk assessments, machine approvals
• Coordinate testing acitivities in Wigan

Qualifications

• University degree, preferably in production or engineering management, industrial engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years experience with Testing (Rubber) Products .
• Comprehensive experience in rubber and plastic production processes
• Cross functional experience e.g. in maintenance, quality, supply chain or CBS preferred
• Experience in the roll‑out of standards and/or strategic projects
• 3 or more years in a leadership position, preferably in in a technical team with functional and disciplinary responsibility for other individuals
• Experience in working with international teams on operational or technical topics and understanding of foreign cultures
