Stem Staffing is seeking a Test Lab Manager in Ulverston to guide the development of test capabilities for military and commercial aerospace applications. The role includes management oversight of the test program and fostering staff development through coaching and mentoring.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. Knowledge of QHSE Systems and aerospace specifications is essential.
The Test Lab Manager is responsible for guiding the organization to develop test capabilities for military and commercial aerospace applications, as well as the execution of product testing and certification.
You will provide guidance and management oversight of the test program and performance management against project qualification plans.
You will develop direct staff through coaching, mentoring, development plans and assignments.
You will establish and implement strategies for improving organizational capability and execution.
You will develop and maintain training plans to build organizational capability and efficiency.
You will develop and improve processes, standards and working instructions and embed these processes into daily routine.
You will establish a program for training new staff including cross training existing staff on lab operations and equipment.
Design and execute laboratory testing according standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings, recording all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy, responsibility and accountability.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 6 years engineering experience.
Minimum of 2 years experience managing Test lab Engineers or technicians in an aerospace environment, with a detailed working knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices.
Experience and knowledge of aerospace and military specification, particularly in relation to performing environmental and functional qualification testing against standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810 etc.).
Experience in operating electrical and non‑electrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids etc.).
A self‑motivated professional with drive and initiative accompanied by an eye for detail who has the ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. chemicals).
He or She will be well‑trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward. You will need excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills for interfacing with customers (when required).
