Job summary

Smithers is seeking a Test Engineer to join our Materials, Science and Engineering department in the United Kingdom. You will develop your testing skills and progress within a successful global business, delivering testing and consultative support for clients across multiple industry sectors.

You will work with the senior testing team to understand test requirements, perform test programmes, help develop new test methods and support the maintenance and efficient organisation of equipment

Qualifications

• Demonstrated competence in multiple polymer testing techniques.
• Experience or knowledge of stress and fatigue testing, mechanical properties testing and environmental exposure testing.
• Computer literate with Excel, Word and Outlook; able to learn in-house systems.
• Excellent communication skills.

The role

Due to growth, we are seeking Test Engineer to join our Materials, Science and Engineering department, who wants to develop their skills and progress within a successful global business. We provide testing and consultative support for a range of clients in multiple industry sectors. Our technical support services are world leading and include failure diagnosis, design and process optimisation of polymer materials.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Liaising with senior testing team to understand test requirements and progress projects.
• Performing test programmes
• Assisting in the development of new test methods.
• Supporting the maintenance and efficient organisation of equipment resources.

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Have demonstrated competence and knowledge in multiple polymer testing techniques
• Have experience or knowledge of stress and fatigue testing, mechanical properties testing, environmental exposure testing and accelerated aging.
• Be computer literate, demonstrating good competence in Excel, Word, Outlook, plus the ability to learn in-house systems.
• Have excellent communication skills
