Job summary

Normec DETS is a UK-based analyser of environmental, construction, waste and engineering samples, part of Normec, ISO 17025 and MCERTS accredited. Based in County Durham and Crayford, the lab offers services including asbestos testing, soil and water testing, and rapid sample processing with dedicated drivers.

With a degree in a science-related subject, you will analyse results alongside Senior Analysts and Technicians, hit daily targets, and ensure quality, health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• HNC or degree in a science related subject.
• Two years laboratory experience.
• Experience using GC-FID, GC-GC, GC-MS or LC-MS systems would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and preparation of laboratory samples and reagents in accordance with laboratory test procedures.
• Responsible for hitting daily targets and deadlines as set by the Team Leader
• The calculation and interpretation of analytical results.
• Ensuring Health and Safety and Quality procedures are adhered to.
• Data entry into LIMS.
• Calibration, equipment and balance checks.
• Housekeeping, ensuring the laboratory work area is clean, tidy and free from rubbish.
• Part of the weekend rota team.
