Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a global advanced manufacturing business in Exeter in its search for a Laboratory Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist technical environment where you'll receive full training and develop the skills needed to support laboratory testing and manufacturing operations.

You don't need a degree or prior laboratory experience; the team welcomes candidates from various backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and numerical ability to interpret data accurately.
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to work independently while following structured procedures.
• Attention to detail and a methodical, reliable approach.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating days/nights in a continental shift.

Responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory testing and analysis of alloy and metal samples using specialist instrumentation.
• Prepare samples for testing and ensure procedures are followed precisely.
• Record, analyse and input results using laboratory software.
• Support production quality and manufacturing processes with test results.
• Calibrate, standardise and perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Work independently to complete tests within established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised laboratory in line with 5S standards.
• Follow health and safety, quality and laboratory procedures.
• Collaborate with lab colleagues and production teams to support operations.
