Yolk Recruitment Ltd. is supporting a global advanced manufacturing business in Exeter in its search for a Laboratory Technician. No degree or prior laboratory experience is required, and the role offers full training in a specialist testing environment.

The position operates on a 12-hour continental shift pattern, rotating days and nights. It is open to candidates from various backgrounds, with emphasis on maths, computer skills and following processes accurately, leading to a long-term career

Qualifications

• Good mathematical and numerical ability.
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and use technical equipment.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload and follow structured procedures.
• Reliable, methodical approach with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory testing and analysis of alloy and metal samples using specialist instrumentation.
• Prepare samples for testing, ensuring procedures are followed accurately.
• Record, analyse and input results using computer systems and laboratory software.
• Use test results to support production quality and manufacturing processes.
• Carry out routine calibration, standardisation and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Work independently to complete testing and make accurate decisions within established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment in line with housekeeping and 5S standards.
• Follow all health and safety, quality and laboratory procedures.
• Work with laboratory colleagues and production teams to support the smooth running of the manufacturing operation.
