Laboratory Technician

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Working Hours: Days Only (Mon-Fri)

Performance Objectives

• Hydrogen content testing
• Tensile Testing
• Vickers Micro-hardness & Rockwell hardness testing
• Grain size Tests
• Bend test
• Potting-up & polishing samples for Metallographic testing
• Alpha Case Testing
• Intergranular Attack Testing
• Heat Affected Zone Testing
• Daily and Weekly Analysis of chemical process tanks, calculating & recommending solution top-ups / new make-up
• Manage laboratory stock levels, obtain quotes, order consumables, and book goods in
• Support test piece preparation (punching, cutting, drilling, etc.)
• Housekeeping duties
• Participate in laboratory audits (internal and external)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Operator overchecks
• Internal Calibration of equipment
• Archive/Storage of Test pieces

Person Specification

• Degree in Material Science or minimum of 3 years experience in a material testing laboratory
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Efficient time management skills
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders

Desirable

• Knowledge of aerospace quality management systems
