Job description

Lab Technician - Quality Control

Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: 6-month contract
Pay: £14.29 - £24.29 per hour
Hours: 37.5 per week

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Lab Technician to join the Quality Control division. This role involves supporting animal husbandry duties, regulated procedures, and quality control testing in compliance with GMP, relevant pharmacopoeia requirements, and the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine animal husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, and clinical assessments.
  • Conduct regulated procedures as licensed under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
  • Assist with QC testing for vaccines and antigens in compliance with SOPs and GMP requirements.
  • Record and report data following GMP and Home Office regulations.
  • Maintain safety practices and complete COSHH assessments.
  • Participate in a rota for evening, weekend, and holiday overtime.
  • Escalate issues with facilities to the Team Leader or SES Manager.

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in English, Mathematics, and Science.
  • Knowledge of GMP compliance and the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
  • Experience in animal husbandry.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Desirable:

  • Personal Home Office License and experience with small animal procedures.
  • Familiarity with microscopes and the ability to identify deviations in the Quality Management System.
