Job summary

Mitie is seeking a proactive Lab Support Steward to join our client site at Harmire Road, Barnard Castle. You will support a structured laboratory environment with a focus on accuracy, safety, and compliance.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and strong communication to collaborate with clients and colleagues. The position is full-time and physically active with manual handling requirements.

Qualifications

GCSE/NAT English, Maths, and Science (preferably Biology).
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures consistently.
A methodical and organised approach to work.
Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Washing, managing, and restocking laboratory glassware.
Performing laboratory fume cupboard checks to ensure airflow compliance with procedures.
Safe handling and removal of contaminated and hazardous waste.
Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory areas using rotating disinfectants in line with procedures.
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and GMP compliance across laboratory areas.
Following documented procedures and ensuring accurate record keeping in line with ALCOA principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate).
