Job summary

Science and Technology Facilities Council in Harwell is seeking a Research Assistant to develop and integrate 3D-printed microfluidic devices with a custom super‑resolution optical microscope for bowel cancer screening initiatives.

You will work on analytical and computational image analysis, support preclinical validation studies, and deliver quantitative assessments of system performance under joint supervision by Profs. Lin Wang and Simon Buczacki.

Qualifications

• Background in Bioengineering, Biophysics, Physics or Biology with strong analytical skills.
• Interest in biomedical imaging and research.
• Experience with 3D-printed microfluidic devices or lab systems.
• Familiarity with image-analysis workflows and automated cell detection is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate 3D-printed microfluidic devices with a custom imaging platform.
• Support workflows combining microfluidics with microscopy.
• Perform image processing and data analysis including automated cell detection.
• Contribute to preclinical validation and quantitative assessments.
• Communicate findings through reports and presentations.
