Job summary

The Ellison Institute’s Generative Biology Institute in Oxford is seeking an experienced Media & Glass Technician to provide critical lab support. You will prepare high-quality media, maintain sterile consumables, and manage glassware for researchers working across cutting-edge biology projects.

You will work within the Media & Glass Team to ensure reliable, compliant lab operations, prioritising accuracy, safety, and service excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry or related field required.
• Experience in media preparation and laboratory technical services in research/biotech settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide range of laboratory media, buffers, agar plates, and solutions per SOPs and research needs.
• Maintain sterile consumables and lab glassware, supporting research activities.
• Operate autoclaves and glasswashers, perform routine checks and report faults.
• Maintain accurate records of media preparation, sterilisation cycles, and batch information.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment for laboratory consumables.
