Job summary

The Pirbright Institute is seeking a Facilities Operator to support the EMS Operations & Programme function. You will help deliver core facilities services across site, including cleaning, laundry, autoclave operation and waste management, with training provided for containment environments.

Working a rota, you will support safe, compliant lab and support environments and report to the Facilities Supervisor as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out practical, hands-on operational duties (cleaning, waste handling, laundry).
• Physically active role with manual handling up to 4–7.5 kg and prolonged standing.
• Willingness to work across laboratories and containment facilities with training and authorisation.
• Flexibility to work on a rota and support different service areas.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and housekeeping across laboratories, offices, kitchens and communal areas.
• Laundry services: collection, washing, drying, pressing and redistribution of clean laundry.
• Autoclave and waste management duties including autoclave operation and waste handling.
