• Actively monitoring calibration status of lab equipment.
• Disposing of waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Supporting the QC Shift Supervisor and Lab Technicians.
• A clear and methodical approach to work

Overview

Ref: CP7163 Salary: £DOE Contract Type: Temp to Perm Location: Folkestone

A new instruction for a temporary Lab Assistant based within the Quality Control Team of a superb employer in Folkestone, specialising in the manufacture of fast moving consumer goods.

The role entails working across both Quality Control and Microbiology.

We are ideally looking for individuals with previous factory or lab experience and ideally a chemistry or science related degree or qualification.

Please note the role is also open to school leavers with an A Level qualification in a science related subject looking for a first role in a lab based environment (although some previous lab experience is preferred).

The position will include a reasonable amount of manual handling and is very fast paced.

Applicants who have also worked across fast paced sectors, i.e., hospitality or catering for example could be considered, if no previous lab or production experience.

The ideal candidate will be pro-active and able to work alone as well as within a team.

We are looking for someone with initiative who can make decisions where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining laboratories in a clean and tidy state to eliminate potential safety issues
• Occasionally assisting the team with product testing under guidance and support
• Reporting any damage to lab fabric of failing equipment to the QC Manager
• Following Planet Safety policies and procedures
• Assisting in re-stocking the labs with stocks of consumable materials, equipment and chemicals by informing QC Manager of any shortages
• Actively monitoring the calibration status of all lab equipment and reporting any coming to their calibration expiry date to the QC Manager
• Disposing of waste materials in a regular, safe and efficient manner
• Support the QC Shift Supervisor and Lab Technicians in their receipt, logging and organisation of incoming samples for analysis
• A clear and methodical approach to work
• Excellent attention to detail

Qualifications

• Ideally a chemistry or science-related degree or qualification
• Open to school leavers with an A Level in a science-related subject (some lab experience preferred)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Pro-active with the ability to work alone and as part of a team

• 40 Hours Monday-Friday - 8am-4:30pm with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break
