Full-Time Band 7 Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – Acute Medicine
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our established and supportive Acute Adult SLT Team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT with significant acute experience who is looking to develop further within a specialist acute and critical care service. You will bring a strong depth and breadth of clinical knowledge and advanced skills in the assessment and management of adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties.
Working alongside the Lead SLT for Critical and Acute Care, and experienced Band 7 and Band 6 colleagues, you will provide highly specialist input across acute medical wards. You will be part of the team that provides a service across critical care, major trauma, frailty and palliative care.
We provide a responsive, patient-centred service across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Collaborative MDT working is central to our approach, and you will work closely with medical, nursing and AHP colleagues, as well as community SLT teams, to support effective rehabilitation and safe transitions from hospital.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital offering excellent opportunities to develop specialist acute skills. The wider SLT service includes neurosciences, ENT, head and neck cancer and acute stroke. This post also offers opportunities to contribute to videofluoroscopy clinics and the ongoing development of our inpatient FEES service.
We are a small, friendly and supportive team with established arrangements for peer support, mentoring and supervision, alongside a strong commitment to CPD and professional development. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about high-quality acute care, enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to contribute to the continued development of our service.
Posts close at midnight on the indicated date unless the advert states otherwise. Post may close early due to volume of applications.
Informal enquiries to Clare Emerson (Lead SLT), or Clare Tarr (Lead SLT in Acute and Critical Care) on 01224 553566, or email clare.emerson@nhs.scot .
We are planning to hold interviews during the week commencing 23rd November.
