Job summary

Mistral AI is hiring a senior engineering leader to own our Kubernetes product end to end in London. You will manage the team, hire and coach engineers, and balance architecture work with people leadership.

You will design the control plane for our metal-to-on-demand platform, ensure reliability, and drive fast provisioning. Collaboration with Product and other teams is essential. This is a hands-on leadership role with impact across the stack.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of real people leadership.
• Shipped production systems in Go.
• Run Kubernetes in anger - built parts of it: operators, schedulers, controllers.
• Experience running GPU workloads on Kubernetes.
• Think like a developer who builds infrastructure, not just an operator.
• Extensive experience building backend or infrastructure systems.
• Partnered with product, design, and business teams to ship software used by real users.
• Low-ego, team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship the control plane. You build alongside your team and own the architecture and the hardest implementation decisions - scheduling, operators, provisioning, node lifecycle.
• Grow the engineers, not just the software. You set the standard for ownership, remove obstacles, and coach them past their comfort zone.
• Own the reliability of the Kubernetes control plane. It is the team's headline KPI.
• Shrink the distance from metal to on-demand. Provisioning a cluster should be minutes of automation.
• Partner with Product Managers to set priorities, scope initiatives, and make tradeoffs.
• Own people management for the team: hiring, performance, growth paths, honest feedback.
• Define the team's processes and execution rituals as it grows.
