Job summary

Hadley Group is recruiting a Research Associate to lead the technical delivery of a 27-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership focusing on steel structures and sustainable design. You will combine full-scale testing with nonlinear FE modelling, software workflows and optimisation to reduce weight in cold-formed steel profiles while embedding new methods within Hadley Group.

The role is based mainly in Smethwick with regular work at the University of Sheffield, including testing at ICAIR.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent R&D experience in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong numerical modelling and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of structural experimental testing.
• Computational or programming capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day project activities for the KTP project between University of Sheffield and Hadley Group.
• Coordinate engineering, manufacturing and software teams to deliver project milestones.
• Develop and validate advanced ABAQUS models and AI-informed design approaches.
• Support transfer of new knowledge into Hadley Group and ensure dissemination at ICAIR and related facilities.
