Job summary

R&B Switchgear Services Ltd in collaboration with the University of Salford seeks a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate to lead AI/ML initiatives over a 36-month project in Greater Manchester. You will work on cutting-edge AI that analyzes engineering data using vision, NLP, and large language models to drive efficiency.

The role emphasizes safe AI practices, stakeholder engagement, and deployment within a regulated engineering context, with strong mentorship and development

Qualifications

• A graduate with a minimum 2.1 BEng/BSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning or a related subject.
• Knowledge and demonstrable experience applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems.
• Experience in computer vision, natural language processing and large language models.
• Experience of developing, testing and deploying machine learning models.
• Understanding of data engineering, software development and AI deployment practices.
• Experience of Safe AI, cybersecurity or regulated environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed advanced AI technologies capable of analysing complex engineering information across visual and text-based sources.
• Combine computer vision, NLP and large language models to streamline time-intensive engineering tasks.
• Develop safe AI systems for safety-critical environments and work with multimodal datasets.
• Train and evaluate ML models and ensure AI outputs are accurate, transparent, and trusted by teams.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and support adoption of AI across the business.
