Job summary

Riverside Bridge School in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking a committed SEN teacher to join our specialist team. The KS4 post involves delivering high-quality, personalised learning across pathways, with a focus on communication, literacy, numeracy and preparing for adulthood.

• Experience in inclusive education and high expectations for pupil progress.
• Strong classroom organisation and effective communication with colleagues.
• Willingness to develop specialist SEN teaching expertise and adapt across key stages.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering personalised teaching aligned with our Flow curriculum and EHCP outcomes.
• Implementing BridgeWorks Structured Teaching, including visual schedules, work systems and communication-rich approaches.
• Leading and coordinating a classroom team of co-educators to provide consistent pupil support.
• Developing pupils' communication through Total Communication, Makaton, symbols, objects of reference and appropriate systems.
• Embedding functional literacy, numeracy, independence and practical life skills across the curriculum.
• Supporting Preparing for Adulthood outcomes, including employment-related learning and independent living.
• Collaborating with therapists and specialist professionals to implement agreed therapeutic strategies.
• Monitoring pupil progress, setting targets and contributing to EHCP reviews.
• Maintaining safeguarding standards and safe classroom practices.
• Working with families and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
