Job summary

Bury Church of England High School is seeking a committed KS4 Deputy to lead pastoral provision for Key Stage 4 students. The role involves strategic leadership of pastoral assistants, managing behaviour and attendance, and delivering targeted interventions for vulnerable pupils.

The post requires safeguarding expertise, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for KS4 pastoral assistants and oversee behaviour and attendance.
• Act as a non-teaching Head of Year.
• Deliver targeted interventions for high-profile students.
• Drive improvements in KS4 behaviour and attendance with restorative practices.
• Lead KS4 pastoral investigations and coordinate with parents and CPOMS/outcomes.
• Liaise with parents/carers/external agencies via phone, email or in person.
• Support pupils to maintain excellent attendance, uniform and punctuality.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:

1. Provide strategic leadership for KS4 pastoral assistants, ensuring effective systems for behaviour and attendance and ensuring a culture of positive well-being.
2. Act as a non-teaching Head of Year.
3. Deliver targeted interventions for high-profile students.
4. Drive improvements in behaviour and attendance in KS4, embedding restorative practices and targeted interventions across the school.
5. Lead on behaviour, well-being and attendance interventions for KS4 students
6. Lead on any KS4 pastoral investigations ensuring pastoral assistants collect statements and support with next steps/interventions. Update parents, AAHT's/SLT and update CPOMS or other systems on outcomes.
7. Liaise by telephone/email/in person with parents/carers/external agencies.
8. Supporting all pupils to maintain excellent attendance/uniform/lates to lessons/truancy and all aspects of the behaviour policy.
