Job summary

Humly is seeking a qualified Secondary Spanish Teacher to join a supportive Carlisle school on a part-time basis. The role runs from November 2026 to July 2027, teaching KS3 Spanish every Thursday with a prepared resource bank and dedicated planning hour.

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess pupil progress, and collaborate with the Modern Foreign Languages team to support pupil confidence in Spanish.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Spanish at secondary school level
• Confident delivering Spanish lessons to KS3 pupils
• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons
• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons to Key Stage 3 pupils
• Help pupils develop their Spanish speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
• Follow the school's curriculum and departmental schemes of work
• Use shared departmental resources to support lesson planning and delivery
• Make use of the dedicated planning hour built into Thursday timetable
• Adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning needs
• Create a positive classroom environment that encourages participation
• Manage classroom behaviour and establish clear expectations
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to support improvement
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Modern Foreign Languages department
• Encourage pupils to build confidence and enthusiasm for learning Spanish
