Job summary

Randstad Education seeks enthusiastic and proactive individuals to provide 1-on-1 learning support for students aged 11 to 16 with special educational needs. You will help pupils reach their potential in a supportive classroom, with full training provided for sensitive situations and opportunities for further professional development.

The role focuses on neurodivergent learners, with emphasis on wellbeing and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting.
  • Ability to build warm, supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Willingness to undertake free training opportunities, such as Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning in schools.

Responsibilities

  • Establish warm, caring relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and ready to learn.
  • Encourage personal development and independence in daily tasks and social interactions.
  • Assist the Class Teacher with day-to-day classroom activities and adapt to school needs.
  • Support cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical development of pupils.
  • Full training will be provided for situations requiring physical intervention.

Job description

Do you possess experience providing 1-on-1 learning support for children with special educational needs? We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, proactive, and dedicated individuals to support students aged 11 to 16 in achieving their full potential at school.

This role provides an ideal opportunity for a committed professional looking to make a meaningful difference for neurodivergent students and their families. Key Duties
  • Establish warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to ensure they feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
  • Encourage personal development and independence in daily tasks and social interactions.
  • Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom and adapt to the evolving needs of the school.
  • Support the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development of each pupil.
  • Adapt to various tasks to ensure smooth school operations. Full training will be provided for occasions where physical intervention may be required.
Must Haves
  • Minimum GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Prior experience working within a special educational needs (SEN) or special school environment is preferred but not essential.
  • A willingness to undertake free training opportunities, for example Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning in schools.
  • Able to provide your own vehicle preferred due to the site's semi-rural location.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check.
