Job summary

Whitley Abbey Primary School in Coventry seeks a part-time Year 6 class teacher for a fixed-term posting January–August 2027. You will share a Year 6 class, plan engaging lessons, and support strong progress in reading, writing and maths while maintaining high expectations for pupils.

• Has high expectations for every pupil.
• Understands effective teaching and learning, particularly within Key Stage 2.

• Able to work as part of a job-share and wider Year 6 team.
• Organised, reliable and committed to ensuring consistency for pupils.

Responsibilities

• Share responsibility for teaching a Year 6 class as part of a part-time/job-share arrangement.
• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching that enables all pupils to make strong progress.
• Maintain high expectations for achievement, behaviour, presentation and attitudes to learning.
• Work closely with the Year 6 team to ensure strong continuity, consistency and communication across the working week.
• Use assessment effectively to identify pupils' strengths, gaps and next steps in learning.
• Support pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics.
• Ensure appropriate support and challenge for all pupils, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and pupils working at greater depth.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and help provide pupils with memorable experiences during their final year at Whitley Abbey.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Help prepare pupils for a successful and confident transition to secondary school.
